Two lifelong friends and business partners, Imran (23) and Ahmed (24), are bringing a taste of India to Bath with their new restaurant, Chai & Chutney. Opening this Saturday, September 13, on Twerton High Street, the eatery promises fresh, fast, and flavorful Indian cuisine that won’t break the bank.
Chai & Chutney offers a diverse menu featuring main dishes all priced under £8, including wraps, rice bowls, salad bowls, and Paratha bowls. Diners can enhance their meals with a selection of eight authentic chutneys, from mint to mango, adding rich and varied flavors to each plate.
True to its name, the restaurant also serves an array of hot chai teas, such as karak chai, ginger chai, and saffron chai. Sweet rose milk and creamy mango lassi provide soothing, traditional drink options. To satisfy your sweet tooth, indulge in classic Indian desserts like rasmalai milk cake and maska buns.

The founders’ journey began while studying business together at the University of Bath in 2019. What started with cooking simple Indian meals to escape typical student fare eventually sparked Imran’s passion for cooking and the duo’s dream of launching their own restaurant.
Before securing their permanent location, Imran and Ahmed tested their concept with a stall at St Nicholas Market in Bristol. After an extensive search, they found the perfect spot within their budget in Twerton.
Currently, Chai & Chutney features a cozy 14-seat dining area, with plans to expand and offer delivery around Bath in the near future.
Join the celebration at 107 High Street in Twerton on opening weekend and enjoy 25% off your entire order. The restaurant will be open daily from noon to 9 pm, ready to serve the community with authentic Indian flavors and warm hospitality.
