Belushi’s, a beloved sports bar and diner in Bath, has left its loyal patrons shocked and disheartened after its sudden closure.
Situated at the corner of Broad Street and Green Street, the establishment ceased operations over the weekend without prior notice, already reflecting a ‘permanently closed’ status on its Google listing.
Famed for its extensive coverage of televised sports, dynamic live music, and diverse events, Belushi’s held a significant place in the community.

Part of a chain with locations in London, Edinburgh, Newquay, and several international cities including Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Paris, and Vienna, Belushi’s boasted a wide-reaching appeal.
Upon a visit by SomersetLive, a handwritten sign on the front door conveyed the succinct message, “Business closed, sorry kids.”
The building also housed the St. Christopher’s Inn backpackers’ hostel, leaving uncertainty about the impact of Belushi’s closure on this separate venture.
Listed with property agents Christie & Co at a fixed price of £10,000, the building, spanning four stories and presenting potential for conversion into a boutique hotel, has garnered attention on the market.
Presently ‘under offer’ on the Rightmove website, the site, which accommodated 82 seats on the ground floor and provided room for 52 beds upstairs, holds the potential for transformation.
Previously known as the Oliver Inn, a namesake derived from William Oliver, the Georgian physician who laid claim to the invention of the Bath Oliver biscuit, the historical significance of the building adds to its allure.
In response to SomersetLive’s inquiry, a spokesperson for Belushi’s relayed, “As part of a strategic shift in our business, we have decided to close. This forms part of a broader consolidation of assets to better align with our long-term goals and evolving priorities. While the decision wasn’t made lightly, the location no longer fits into our forward-looking plans. We’d like to thank our team for their hard work and our patrons for their support over the years.”
