Claudia Soakell, a cherished primary school administrator and devoted mother from Langport, tragically passed away during a family holiday in Tenerife on Monday, August 25.
Her husband, Bill, shared heartfelt memories: “She was having the best time, in a place she loved, soaking up the sunshine. She was so happy, but then, very suddenly, the heavens were calling… She was in no pain when she passed away.”
Claudia worked at Huish Episcopi Primary School and was beloved for her kindness, laughter, and gentle spirit. Her close friend Abi reflected, “My beautiful friend Claudia passed away suddenly and unexpectedly, leaving our hearts broken. She was a devoted wife and mother, a much-loved daughter and sister, and a loyal friend to many. Her family was the center of her world, and the love she shared was felt by all who knew her.”

Abi continued, “Claudia gave so much to the wider community. At the local primary school, she made a lasting impact on children, parents, and colleagues alike. Often seen walking her beloved dog, Bonnie, Claudia was always ready with a smile and a friendly chat, brightening the days of neighbors, teenagers, and anyone she met. Her warmth and humor made people feel valued and connected.”
Her kindness and generosity left a lasting impression on all who knew her. The cause of Claudia’s death has not been disclosed.
To support Claudia’s family with funeral expenses, Abi has organized a fundraising effort, raising over £12,750 from 233 generous donations so far.
Claudia’s funeral will take place at 2 pm on Thursday, September 18, at Sedgemoor Crematorium in Bridgwater. In lieu of flowers, donations are being directed to the British Heart Foundation in her memory.
