Victoria Wheatley, a devoted mother of three, tragically passed away just 11 days after a severe brain bleed left her in critical condition. The 38-year-old was rushed to hospital by her partner, Barry, on January 26 after experiencing vomiting, weakness, difficulty standing, and confusion.
At Yeovil Hospital, a CT scan revealed a major brain hemorrhage. Victoria was urgently transferred to Southmead Hospital in Bristol, where surgeons inserted a drain to relieve the pressure on her brain. She was placed in an induced coma to aid her recovery.
After several tense days, Victoria awoke from the coma—a moment her father, Simon, recalls vividly when she greeted him with a simple “Hi dad.” Unfortunately, complications arose in the form of brain spasms that left Victoria unable to speak, walk, or perform basic functions. Medical professionals informed the family that her quality of life would be severely compromised.

Faced with the most difficult decision, Victoria’s loved ones chose to discontinue life support. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family.
Her brother James remembered Victoria as brave, intelligent, and kind-hearted, emphasizing the special bond they shared. Simon fondly recalled joyful childhood memories, including a gentle moment when Victoria fell asleep in the back of a horse box.
To support the family with funeral expenses, a close friend established a GoFundMe campaign, which has raised over £1,200 so far. Sammie, who set up the fund, expressed gratitude for Simon’s kindness and hopes to give back in this time of loss.
