Filming for the second series of the BBC thriller, A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, is scheduled to take place in Somerset. The cast and crew will be in Axbridge from 6pm today (Monday, April 28) until 8am on Friday, May 2, with a return from 10am on Saturday, May 10 to 7pm on Friday, May 16 to complete production. The filming will affect parking in the Square, the Old Station, and Chestnut Avenue, with the film company managing the associated parking restrictions.
Axbridge Town Clerk Vicky Brice expressed appreciation for the town’s support and encouraged a warm welcome for the filming team, hoping to boost promotion for the picturesque town. The series, featuring Emma Myers, known for her roles in Wednesday and A Minecraft Movie, follows a young woman named Pip who investigates a local girl’s untimely demise.
Reception of the first series ranged from comparisons to Nancy Drew with an Enid Blyton twist to critics pointing out jumbled plotlines and an overly tragic premise. While the release date for the second series remains unknown, the first series is available on BBC iPlayer. Somerset’s scenic landscapes and charming towns continue to attract filmmakers, with Bath hosting parts of Bridgerton, Les Mis, and The Duchess, resulting in significant economic benefits for the city. Furthermore, Cheddar Gorge and Montacute House have also been featured in notable film projects.
