BBC Glastonbury Fans Insist Raye Deserved Headline Spot After Stunning Performance

Glastonbury Festival 2025 made a triumphant return this weekend, drawing crowds of over 200,000 music lovers and featuring top-tier acts from around the world. Among the standout performances was singer Raye, who took to the stage for the coveted Saturday night prime-time slot at 8pm.

Opening her set with a dynamic live band and backing vocalists, Raye dramatically emerged from a box labeled “fragile,” dressed in a dazzling black sequined outfit. She kicked off with her hit “Where’s My Husband,” then treated the crowd to fan favorites such as “The Thrill Is Gone,” the emotionally charged “Ice Cream Man,” and her latest release, “I Know You’re Hurting.”

Her electrifying performance quickly became the talk of the festival, with fans heading to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to praise her talent. Many expressed disbelief that she wasn’t the headline act, a spot that instead went to legend Rod Stewart in the festival’s Legends Slot.

“Why is Raye not headlining?” one fan asked. Another agreed: “Raye was absolutely amazing, she should have been headlining with a bigger band and more backup singers.” Enthusiasm from the crowd was clear, with multiple voices calling for Raye to take center stage in future festivals: “Next time headlining, I hope. Raye, that was incredible,” one fan shared, while another chimed in, “Raye should headline in 2027.”

Supporters hailed her as a future headline act, praising her vocal prowess and stage presence. “What a woman! What a singer!” one admirer gushed.

Meanwhile, Rod Stewart, known for classics like “Sailing” and “Maggie May,” is scheduled to deliver a two-hour set on the Pyramid Stage at 3.45pm. Olivia Rodrigo follows on Sunday at 9.45pm for another anticipated two-hour performance, featuring hits like “Drivers License,” “Good 4 U,” and “Traitor.”

For those who missed the live experience, Glastonbury Festival 2025 is available to stream on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
