BBC DIY SOS Seeks Somerset Homeowners Needing Urgent Renovation Help

The BBC’s beloved renovation show, DIY SOS, is gearing up to visit Somerset and is actively searching for local homeowners and community organisations in urgent need of significant building or renovation projects.

Whether it’s a family home that no longer meets the occupants’ needs or an essential community venue deteriorating and in need of repair, DIY SOS welcomes applications from those who could benefit from their transformative assistance.

Since its debut in 1999, DIY SOS has become one of the BBC’s flagship programmes, renowned for tackling large-scale and emotionally moving renovation projects. Guided by host Nick Knowles and his dedicated crew, the show brings together tradespeople and volunteers to complete impressive rebuilds—often within just a few days.

Now, the production team is turning their attention to Somerset, seeking compelling stories and projects that truly need the spotlight and expert intervention. In addition to homeowners and community groups, they are also calling on local tradespeople and volunteers to lend their skills and generosity, which are essential to the success of each build.

“We’re currently casting for a brand-new series and looking for deserving homeowners in the Somerset area who genuinely need our support,” said a DIY SOS spokesperson.

Nick Knowles added, “We’re excited to be back, helping people who really need us alongside their communities. We’ll be travelling the country, showcasing the incredible generosity and skill of builders and suppliers everywhere. If you know a project where we can make a real difference, please nominate or apply.”

Applications are open until December 19, 2025, to applicants aged 18 and over. Interested parties can apply or nominate someone via the DIY SOS website and social media channels.
