Dog lovers in Bath are invited to lace up their walking shoes and join one of the city’s largest canine charity events, the annual Wag Walk hosted by Bath Cats and Dogs Home. Taking place on Sunday, September 28, this eagerly anticipated event expects to see over 100 dogs and their owners coming together to raise crucial funds for animals in need.
The charity, dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming more than 700 cats and dogs each year, is aiming to raise £8,000 through this event to support ongoing care for abandoned and neglected animals.
Participants will start from the rescue centre in Claverton and can choose between a leisurely two-mile flat route or a more challenging five-mile hike along the scenic National Trust Bath Skyline. All dogs will be proudly outfitted with a commemorative Wag Walk bandana and will receive a goodie bag upon completing the walk. Visitors can also enjoy refreshments and a variety of activities on the centre’s grounds.

Entry costs are £15 for the first dog and £5 for each additional dog, with all entrants receiving a fundraising pack to help gather sponsorships. The event also includes special prizes for top fundraisers, ensuring every pound raised directly aids the charity’s vital work—such as keeping kennels ready to care for stray dogs in urgent need, with just £50 making a real difference.
Katy Goodship, fundraiser at Bath Cats and Dogs Home, said, “The Wag Walk is a fantastic day out for dog lovers and supporters alike. We dream of a future where every rescue dog finds a loving family, and events like this bring that goal closer to reality. We encourage everyone to consider adopting from us.”
Volunteer Andrea Parkes added, “It’s always a wonderful event that both walkers and their dogs thoroughly enjoy. It’s also a special chance for adopters to return, share their dog’s progress, and continue supporting the charity’s mission.”
