Bath Rugby’s Santi Carreras has been named in the Argentina squad for the upcoming Visa Galicia Cup, a three-match series featuring Argentina, South Africa, and Australia.
Carreras impressed throughout the initial rounds of the inaugural Nations Championship, consistently featuring as Argentina’s starting full back. He notably served as vice-captain during the Round 2 clash against Wales, which Argentina won 35-21. Despite strong performances, the Pumas were narrowly defeated 47-38 by Scotland and 31-24 by England in their other matches.
The Visa Galicia Cup sees Argentina host South Africa at José Amalfitani Stadium in Liniers on Saturday 8 August. Following this, they will play Australia twice: first at Estadio 23 de Agosto in Jujuy on Saturday 29 August, and then at Malvinas Argentinas Stadium in Mendoza on Saturday 5 September.

Carreras’s participation means he is likely to miss the start of the season with Bath. The Premiership Rugby Cup campaign begins on 6 September with an away fixture against Sale. Bath will then have a bye week followed by a week without fixtures, limiting Carreras’s absence to just the opening match.
