Bath Rugby’s Lee Blackett joins England coaching team for summer tour

Bath Rugby’s attack and backs coach Lee Blackett has been selected to join England’s coaching team for the upcoming summer tour. Blackett, known for his impressive work with Bath, will be filling in for Richard Wigglesworth, who will be seconded to the British and Irish Lions. Blackett’s expertise in attack has contributed significantly to Bath’s success in the Gallagher Premiership, with the team securing a spot in the semi-finals.

The summer tour includes a two-Test series against Argentina and a match against the United States. Blackett, along with Sale’s McGuigan, will then return to their respective clubs following the conclusion of the tour. England head coach Steve Borthwick expressed his enthusiasm for Blackett and McGuigan joining the coaching group, highlighting their alignment with the team’s playing style.

Blackett, who began coaching in 2012 with Rotherham Titans, has built a strong coaching career, notably with Wasps and Scarlets before joining Bath Rugby. His most recent coaching accomplishments include leading England ‘A’ to victories over Australia ‘A’ and Ireland ‘A’. Blackett expressed his honor in being chosen to work with the England coaching team, emphasizing his excitement to tackle this new challenge.
