Bath Rugby Unveil Strong Lineup as They Prepare to Host Saracens in Champions Cup Last 16

Bath Rugby head coach Johann van Graan has named a formidable squad for Saturday’s crucial last 16 clash against Saracens in the 2025/26 Investec Champions Cup. Returning almost their entire first-choice lineup, Bath aims to capitalize on their status as one of the Gallagher Premiership’s most promising sides in European competition.

Following a strategic rotation last weekend that saw a second-string Bath side secure a narrow 31-26 victory at Sale Sharks, van Graan has made 13 changes to the starting XV for this knockout encounter. The team’s pack boasts seven internationals, highlighting the strength and depth Bath brings to the field.

The front row features Beno Obano, Tom Dunn, and Archie Griffin, while the second row comprises Quinn Roux and Charlie Ewels. Flanking the scrum are Josh Bayliss and Guy Pepper, with the dynamic Alfie Barbeary—recently nominated for European Player of the Year and the only uncapped player starting—filling the back row.

Bath’s backline is entirely international, led by scrum-half and captain Ben Spencer alongside fly-half Finn Russell. The midfield partnership of Max Ojomoh and Ollie Lawrence will look to unlock Saracens’ defense, supported by wingers Henry Arundell and Joe Cokanasiga, and full-back Santi Carreras completing the lineup.

Expect impact and energy from the bench with replacements Kepu Tuipulotu, Francois van Wyk, Thomas du Toit, Ted Hill, Sam Underhill, Bernard van der Linde—making his European club debut—and Cameron Redpath ready to take the field.

Saracens will counter with their own powerful lineup, featuring captain Maro Itoje in the second row and seasoned internationals like Owen Farrell directing play at inside center.

The match is set to be officiated by referee Nika Amashukeli from Georgia, with support from assistants Ben Connor and Shota Tevzadze, and TMO Ben Whitehouse.

This high-stakes European encounter promises intense rugby action as Bath Rugby look to continue their impressive trajectory and make a significant impact in the Champions Cup knockout stages.
