Bath Rugby has announced the signing of new contracts for nine standout players from its senior academy, reinforcing the club’s commitment to cultivating homegrown talent. Thompson Cowan, Ieuan Davies, Ioan Emanuel, Alfie Griffin, Will Jeanes, Scott Kirk, Isaac Mears, Max Pearce, and Claudius Wheeler have all extended their stay with Bath Rugby for another season.
These players, who have progressed through Bath’s Academy pathway, showcase the growing pool of promising talent within the club. Notably, props Alfie Griffin and Claudius Wheeler, along with scrum-half Isaac Mears, will move up from Senior Academy Scholars—part of Bath Rugby’s collaboration with the University of Bath—to join the Senior Academy squad.
Head of Rugby Johann van Graan emphasized the club’s strategic focus on long-term development. “We are dedicated to providing Bath Rugby with the finest emerging talent," he said. “Maintaining continuity across our squad, including the Academy and Pathway programs, is essential to transforming good players into great ones.”

“Supporting both our homegrown and age-grade international talents is vital to these achievements. Retaining these young players ensures the club’s future remains bright, and I’m delighted these nine will continue their journey with us,” he added.
