Bath Rugby have reportedly secured the signing of promising young fly-half Will Roue ahead of the 2026/27 campaign. Roue, who played a key role as starting fly-half for the University of Bath’s BUCs Super Rugby winning team, has already made six senior appearances for Bath, primarily during the PREM Rugby Cup last year. This includes a start in the semi-final defeat against Leicester Tigers.
Roue initially gained senior game time when first-choice fly-half Finn Russell was away on international duty with Scotland. Additionally, Santi Carreras was rested for five weeks during the Six Nations as the Argentina international recuperated from a demanding summer with the Pumas, leaving Bath short on specialist fly-half options. Roue’s emergence has provided much-needed cover in this pivotal position.
Bath can also call on Ciaran Donoghue, who missed much of the previous season due to an ACL injury sustained in pre-season. Although Donoghue is a strong fly-half, his natural agility may see him utilized more effectively at full-back moving forward.

Meanwhile, Bath have allowed former England U20 fly-half Sam Harris, aged 22, to depart for Exeter Chiefs this summer. Roue appears to be the natural successor to fill the specialist fly-half depth at Bath.
The signing was confirmed by Roue’s representatives, The Rugby Agents, via Instagram. This acquisition addresses a long-standing challenge for Bath, as fly-half has been a troublesome position in recent seasons. Previously, players like centre Max Ojomoh and scrum-half Tom Carr-Smith were frequently deployed out of position to cover the role—a scenario head coach Johann van Graan aims to avoid going forward.
In addition to this signing, Bath have renewed senior academy contracts for a promising group of players including Thompson Cowan, Ieuan Davies, Ioan Emanuel, Alfie Griffin, Will Jeanes, Scott Kirk, Isaac Mears, Max Pearce, and Claudius Wheeler. Academy players Bailey Cutts, Max Hooper, Declan Treacey, and Alex Yeabsley have also signed their first senior contracts, signaling Bath’s commitment to nurturing homegrown talent.
