Bath Rugby has officially announced that promising young back Ciaran Donoghue has signed a two-year contract extension, keeping him at the club through the end of the 2027/28 season.
A product of the Bath Rugby Academy, Donoghue began his rugby journey at Millfield before making his senior debut against Gloucester Rugby in November 2021. Since then, the 23-year-old fly-half has showcased his versatility by playing multiple positions and has earned 21 appearances for Bath.
Donoghue made his European debut during Bath’s successful EPCR Challenge Cup campaign last year, featuring in the victorious match against Pau. He was also an integral part of Bath’s historic treble-winning 2024/25 season, named in the matchday squads for all three finals.

Johann van Graan, Head of Rugby, expressed his enthusiasm about the new deal, saying, “It gives us all great pleasure to know that Ciaran will be with us for the next two seasons. What a 2024/25 season he has had. We all have great memories of what he has done on and off the pitch. Most importantly, his best is yet to come.”
Reflecting on his contract renewal, Donoghue said, “I’m really excited to continue my journey and development here as a player and person. The support at The Rec and around the city is amazing, and I can’t wait to get back on the pitch to help the club achieve further success.”
With this new contract, Bath Rugby ensures Donoghue remains a key part of their squad, symbolizing the club’s commitment to nurturing homegrown talent and building for the future.
