Bath Rugby are reportedly interested in signing Marcos Camerlinckx, a young Argentinian front-row player who has demonstrated versatility and potential in his early career.
The 22-year-old, who has yet to earn a senior cap, has experience playing both hooker and tighthead prop at the Argentina U20 level. Recent reports suggest he has travelled to Bath to finalise a move to the Gallagher Premiership club, a notable development given Bath’s existing strength in these positions.
Camerlinckx, weighing just over 20 stones, recently won the Super Rugby Americas title with the Pampas XV, an Argentinian professional franchise, and was selected as tighthead for Argentina XV in a match against the United States a few weeks ago. He featured for 48 minutes in a narrow 25–24 defeat at Fort Lauderdale.

Following the departure of Springbok tighthead Thomas du Toit at the end of last season, Bath’s head of rugby Johann van Graan still maintains solid competition for the number three jersey. Experienced England international Will Stuart has returned to full training following recovery from an Achilles injury sustained last December. Wales international Archie Griffin, 25, continues to seek more game time, while rising talent Billy Sela and Kieran Verden, 27, who recently featured at tighthead in a pre-season friendly in Perpignan, strengthen the squad’s depth in the front row.
The potential signing of Camerlinckx appears to be a strategic investment in future talent, reflecting Bath’s long-term planning. Camerlinckx grew up playing for the amateur club Regatas Bella Vista and is the son of former Argentina international number eight Paulo Camerlinckx, who earned 32 caps for the Pumas during the 1990s.
Ahead of the 2026/27 season, Bath Rugby’s recruitment activity has been relatively modest, with only three senior signings made so far. Alongside the possible addition of Camerlinckx, the club has secured former Springbok number eight Dan du Preez from Sale Sharks and Scotland international loosehead prop Jamie Bhatti from Glasgow Warriors. Additionally, young fly-half Will Roue, who appeared for Bath last season while studying at the University of Bath, has signed his first full-time professional contract with the club.
