Friday night at the Rec was a rugby masterclass as Bath Rugby stormed back into Gallagher Premiership action with an emphatic 62-15 win against Saracens. The reigning champions were unstoppable on their home turf, crossing the try line nine times to overwhelm their visitors in a dazzling display of attacking rugby.
Saracens grabbed an early lead with Tobias Elliott touching down less than a minute in, followed by an Owen Farrell penalty kick to put them 10 points up. However, Bath quickly asserted themselves. Will Muir opened Bath’s try-scoring account, finishing off a slick move initiated by Ben Spencer and Ollie Lawrence. Josh Bayliss then broke through the Saracens defense with a neat sidestep to add another try, giving Bath the momentum.
Alfie Barbeary, who is set to join Saracens next season, showcased his strength by powering over from close range for Bath’s third try. Although Elliott added a second try for Saracens, Henry Arundell swung the momentum back Bath’s way with a remarkable 60-metre interception try, his second against Saracens this season.
