Bath Rugby staged an impressive comeback to defeat Sale Sharks 31-26 away at CorpAcq Stadium on Sunday, strengthening their bid for a home play-off spot.
The visitors started strongly with an early try from Dan Frost, set up by a sharp pass from Tom Carr-Smith, giving Bath a 7-0 lead. However, discipline issues cost them dearly as Joe Cokanasiga was sin-binned, and along with Dan Frost’s yellow card, Sale capitalized with three tries from Tom O’Flaherty, Rob du Preez, and Luke Cowan-Dickie to seize a 21-7 advantage.
Bath regrouped resiliently after halftime, with Louie Hennessey and Ethan Staddon crossing the line quickly to narrow the deficit. Sale responded with Tom Roebuck’s try, but Bath’s relentless pressure paid off through a brilliant solo effort from Kepu Tuipulotu, whose chip set up Bernard van der Linde to score and level the game. Alfie Barbeary’s try then put Bath ahead for the first time since the opening exchanges.
