Bath Rugby’s PREM Rugby Cup campaign ended in defeat on Sunday as they were outclassed 46-21 by a seasoned Leicester Tigers team at Welford Road. Despite an energetic start, Bath struggled to contain Leicester’s dominance as the home side built an imposing lead.
Leicester stunned Bath early with a try from Tom Threlfall in the opening minute. Bath struck back when Ethan Staddon skillfully crossed after a well-executed line break, a try converted by Will Roue. However, Leicester seized control through sustained possession and territory, with Billy Searle and Tommy Reffell both exploiting defensive lapses to extend the Tigers’ halftime advantage.
The second half started with Leicester flexing their power again, scoring two quick tries including one from former Bath player Orlando Bailey. Reffell bagged his second from a rolling maul as Tigers surged ahead. Bath managed to respond through replacement Kepu Tuipulotu’s close-range touchdown, but Leicester’s late blitz, including tries from Harry Palmer, Joaquin Moro, and Ollie Hassell-Collins, sealed a comprehensive victory.
