Bath Rugby are reportedly in talks to sign Marcos Camerlinckx, a 22-year-old Argentinian front-row forward noted for his versatility as both a hooker and tighthead prop at the under-20 international level. The uncapped player is said to have visited the Recreation Ground to finalise a deal with the Gallagher Premiership side, a development that has attracted interest given Bath’s existing strength in those positions.
Camerlinckx, who weighs just over 20 stones, was a key figure in the Pampas XV’s recent Super Rugby Americas championship victory. More recently, he was selected at tighthead prop for an Argentina XV side in their narrow 25-24 loss to the United States in Fort Lauderdale, where he played 48 minutes.
Although Bath lost Springbok tighthead Thomas du Toit at the end of last season, head of rugby Johann van Graan still oversees a wealth of talent in the number three jersey. England international Will Stuart has returned to full training following an Achilles injury sustained last December, while Wales international Archie Griffin and young prospect Billy Sela continue to compete for game time. Additionally, Kieran Verden, who played tighthead in Bath’s recent pre-season friendly defeat in Perpignan, also adds to the squad’s depth.

The potential signing of Camerlinckx appears to be a strategic investment in Bath’s future front-row options. Coming through amateur club Regatas Bella Vista, Camerlinckx is the son of former Argentina number eight Paulo Camerlinckx, who earned 32 caps for the Pumas in the 1990s.
Ahead of the 2026/27 season, Bath Rugby’s recruitment has been conservative, with only three senior signings announced so far. Alongside Camerlinckx, they have secured former Springbok number eight Dan du Preez from Sale Sharks and Scotland international loosehead prop Jamie Bhatti from Glasgow Warriors. Moreover, young fly-half Will Roue, who was part of the club last season while studying at the University of Bath, has signed his first full-time professional contract with the club.
