Bath Rugby has announced that their powerful number eight, Alfie Barbeary, will be leaving the club at the end of the 2025/26 season. After four memorable years filled with standout on-field performances and memorable moments off the pitch, Barbeary is set to join Gallagher Premiership rivals Saracens.
Barbeary made the switch to Bath from Wasps during the 2022/23 season and debuted off the bench against Leicester Tigers in March 2023. Renowned for his charismatic personality and distinctive hairstyle, the 25-year-old number eight played an influential role in Bath’s treble-winning 2024/25 campaign, featuring in all three final squads. Additionally, his impressive performances in the Investec Champions Cup pool stages have earned him a contender spot for the Player of the Season award in 2025/26.
Over his tenure at Bath, Barbeary has represented the club 60 times, quickly becoming a fan favourite with supporters drawn to his passion and commitment.

Saracens’ Director of Rugby, Mark McCall, expressed his enthusiasm about the signing: “Alfie is a highly talented young player, and we are thrilled to welcome him to the club. His skills and character will be a great addition to our squad, and we look forward to seeing him reach his potential in the coming years.”
