Bath Rugby claimed the top position in the table for the first time in 22 years with a convincing win over Newcastle Falcons on Saturday. Despite resting several first-team players, Bath secured a bonus point victory with a score of 55-19 against the league’s bottom side at the Recreation Ground.
The match saw rookie fly-half Ciaran Donoghue making a remarkable league debut with a stunning solo try, and also successfully landed a conversion from a narrow angle. However, a charged-down kick and some loose passes highlighted his inexperience at this level.
The game also witnessed the return of Sam Underhill to the Bath team after his previous red card. A scrappy affair overall, Bath eventually managed to elevate their performance, with Tom Carr-Smith and Quinn Roux also making notable contributions with their tries.

Bath’s victory was further solidified by additional tries from Austin Emens, Louie Hennessey, and Cameron Redpath, with Finn Russell successfully converting. The win not only secured their 13th victory in 15 matches but also established an unassailable points difference of 238.
