Bath Rugby has announced the appointment of Bryn Cunningham as the club’s new head of recruitment, succeeding Rob Burgess, who is set to join Gloucester Rugby.
Cunningham brings a wealth of experience from his long association with Ulster Rugby. As a former full back, he earned 150 caps for the Northern Irish side before an injury forced his retirement from playing. Transitioning off the field, Cunningham initially worked as a player agent before stepping into management roles within Ulster’s rugby operations.
Since 2014, he has held key leadership positions at Ulster, including Team Manager, Operations Director, and General Manager. After departing Ulster in October 2025, Cunningham is set to begin his tenure at Bath later this month.

Bath’s head of rugby, Johann van Graan, expressed confidence in Cunningham’s appointment, stating: “Bryn brings rich experience from both the rugby system and his time as a player agent. His background in Irish rugby will ease his transition into the English setup, and we look forward to his leadership in retention and recruitment at Bath Rugby. Our club thrives on a family-first culture, and Bryn embodies that perfectly.”
Cunningham, meanwhile, shared his enthusiasm about joining Bath: “I’m truly excited to join such a prestigious club. Leaving Ulster was a tough choice, so it was important that my next step suited both my family and career—and Bath fits that perfectly. I look forward to working with Johann and the team to build on the club’s success in the coming years.”
