Bath Rugby has announced the appointment of Mike Prendergast as the club’s new backs and attack coach, succeeding the departing Martin Gleeson. Prendergast, 49, will join the club from Munster Rugby and is set to begin his role at Farleigh House ahead of the 2026/27 pre-season.
Prendergast’s rugby journey began as a player with Munster, followed by spells at French side CS Bourgoin-Jallieu and English Premiership club Gloucester Rugby. After returning to Munster, he transitioned into coaching, gaining extensive experience within French rugby. Over more than ten years, he coached at Grenoble FCG, Oyonnax Rugby, Stade Français, and Racing 92. Notably, he worked alongside Bath’s star fly-half Finn Russell during Racing 92’s run to the 2020 Champions Cup final, where they narrowly lost to Exeter Chiefs.
In 2022, Prendergast returned to Munster as their attack coach, coinciding with the departure of Bath’s head of rugby Johann van Graan. He has spent four years in that role before deciding to move on earlier this season.
