Bath Rugby have officially unveiled a sizeable senior squad comprising 75 players for the upcoming 2026/27 season. Notably, just under half of these are academy players, highlighting the club’s commitment to nurturing emerging talent alongside experienced professionals.
Head of rugby Johann van Graan will largely maintain his core group, with only a couple of new additions to the senior ranks this summer. The key arrivals include Springbok number eight Dan du Preez from Sale Sharks and Scotland international loosehead prop Jamie Bhatti, who joins from Edinburgh Rugby.
Retention has been strong at Bath, with only three players from last season’s 23-man matchday squad-Thomas du Toit, Francois van Wyk, and Alfie Barbeary-departing the club following their Gallagher Premiership semi-final loss to Exeter Chiefs. This stability offers van Graan a consistent foundation to build upon.

Preparations for the season will gain momentum as the squad embarks on their customary pre-season training camp in France next week. This gathering will provide the team an opportunity to set clear objectives and gear up for the challenges ahead. Their pre-season includes a scheduled match against Perpignan on Thursday 27 August.
With the squad largely intact and minimal movement anticipated ahead of the transfer window closing, Bath appear poised to prioritise the Investec Champions Cup-a title that has eluded them since van Graan’s appointment at the Recreation Ground in 2022.
