Bath Rugby has confirmed that four prominent players will be leaving the club at the conclusion of the 2024/25 season. Winger Ruaridh McConnochie, scrum-half Louis Schreuder, hooker Niall Annett, and prop Arthur Cordwell will all depart, marking a significant transition for the squad.
Ruaridh McConnochie, a former England international and Rio 2016 Olympic silver medallist with Team GB Rugby Sevens, has announced his retirement from professional rugby to pursue a coaching career. McConnochie was recently honoured as Bath’s Clubman of the Year, recognizing his leadership and commitment during his tenure.
Louis Schreuder, who joined Bath from Newcastle Falcons in 2022, will also leave the club. The South African scrum-half, a three-time Currie Cup champion, has played professionally across South Africa, Japan, and France. Head of Rugby Johann van Graan praised Schreuder’s contributions both on and off the field, highlighting his integral role in the team’s development over the past three seasons.

Arthur Cordwell, an academy graduate aged just 26, has chosen to retire from rugby. Van Graan expressed his admiration for Cordwell’s dedication and team spirit, wishing him success in his future endeavours.
Additionally, Bath Rugby will part ways with several senior academy players this summer, including Abdul-Khalik Akenzua Al-Kareem, Rory Crum, Josh Dingley, Luke Graham, Mackenzie Graham, Will Parry, James Short, Archie Stanley, and Raff Weston.
Bath Rugby’s management and coaching staff extend their gratitude to all departing players for their contributions and wish them well as they embark on new journeys.
