Bath Faces Major Travel Disruption as Rugby and Sold-Out Mumford & Sons Gigs Collide

Bath is gearing up for significant travel disruption this Valentine’s Day, as a sold-out home rugby match and three consecutive sold-out Mumford & Sons concerts unfold simultaneously. The clash of these major events is expected to cause widespread congestion across the city.

On Saturday, February 14, thousands of fans will descend on two central locations: The Rec, hosting the Bath Rugby vs. Bristol Bears match, and The Forum, where Mumford & Sons will deliver three performances. Both venues are within walking distance of Bath Spa station, intensifying pressure on local transport.

The rugby match kicks off at 2:30 pm, with gates opening from 12:30 pm to welcome families to a fan village. Meanwhile, the first Mumford & Sons show starts early at 1:00 pm and concludes by 1:45 pm, creating an initial surge of attendees. After the rugby game ends, the second concert begins at 5:30 pm, followed by a final show starting at 9:00 pm, ensuring a continuous flow of visitors throughout the day.

The Forum has issued a clear travel advisory on social media, urging attendees to plan their journeys carefully and build in extra time to navigate the busy city center. They emphasize that neither The Forum nor its ticketing partners can offer refunds or transfers if delays cause late arrivals.

Concert-goers are advised not to queue outside The Forum before doors open, which will occur 45 to 60 minutes prior to each show. Additionally, train services to Bath Spa, local buses connecting Bath and Bristol via Keynsham, and nearby car parks are expected to fill quickly amid the heavy demand.

Given the substantial number of fans traveling from Bristol, especially for the rugby match, the M4 motorway is likely to experience heavy traffic. Residents and visitors alike are encouraged to prepare for what promises to be a bustling and challenging day of travel in Bath.
