Bath College is proud to announce the launch of the Bath College Sport Academy, a pioneering partnership with Bath City FC and Bath Rugby, set to commence in the 2025/2026 academic year. This innovative programme is designed to provide students aged 16-18 with a unique opportunity to pursue professional and semi-professional sports careers while continuing their academic studies.
The academy offers access to elite training facilities, professional coaching, and strength and conditioning sessions, all within a structured timetable. This approach ensures that student-athletes develop not only their athletic skills but also their confidence and personal growth. The programme eliminates the difficult choice between education and sporting ambitions, supporting young athletes in achieving their dual goals.
James Moon, Football Lead Academy Coach at Bath College, emphasized the transformative impact of the academy: “Our expanded sports academy activity will open doors for students, enhancing both their athletic performance and academic success. By embedding sport within further education, we foster an environment where students can excel on the field and in the classroom, building resilience and life skills for the future.”

This academy advances our mission to grow the women’s game locally by connecting youth development directly to senior team opportunities.”
Craig Lilley, Head of Academy at Bath Rugby, underlined the partnership’s commitment to accessibility: “This collaboration strengthens our dedication to providing inclusive, high-quality training environments for all young players across the region, whether or not they are part of our formal academy.”
Looking ahead, Bath College plans to expand the Sport Academy to include netball, golf, and women’s rugby, further broadening opportunities for aspiring athletes.
