Bath City has seen some movement in its squad as midfielder Luke Russe departs after a three-year spell, and experienced striker Reuben Reid joins the club.
Russe, a combative midfielder, will continue competing in the National League South by signing with Salisbury following Bath City’s relegation. Despite limited appearances under coach Scott Bartlett, largely due to an ankle injury, Russe’s time at Bath City was marked by dedication. “Luke has been a good servant to the club and we wish him all the best,” Bartlett commented. “Although we didn’t work together long, he’s an infectious character and a pleasure to be around. This change is a fresh start for him and allows us to strengthen further as we approach the new season.”
Joining Bath City from Chippenham Town in June 2023, Russe quickly made his mark and earned the Supporters’ Player of the Year award, despite missing the final two months of his first season with an injury. Over his tenure, he made 131 appearances, netting four goals, all in the 2024/25 season—the last of which ironically came against Salisbury in a 2-1 away win. The 27-year-old midfielder’s extensive National League South experience, totaling 233 appearances, now continues with Salisbury, who narrowly avoided relegation last season.

On the incoming side, Bath City has secured the services of striker Reuben Reid after his release from Weymouth. Approaching 38, Reid brings a wealth of experience to the Romans’ attacking options. Coach Scott Bartlett, who previously managed Reid at Weston-super-Mare, praised his fitness and professionalism: “He has outstanding attributes and is in excellent physical condition. His experience and the standards he sets make him invaluable on and off the pitch. With Reuben, Harry Parsons, and Scotty Wilson already at the club, we have strong forward options heading into the season.”
Reid’s career spans numerous clubs, including Plymouth Argyle, Rotherham, Yeovil Town, and Exeter City. The Bristol-born forward has made over 700 career appearances and scored 34 goals in 131 matches during his time at Weston-super-Mare. His recent stint at Weymouth ended following the team’s relegation, and now he reunites with Bartlett at Bath City. The manager also hinted at further additions to the squad as pre-season training resumes.
In preparation for the upcoming campaign, Bath City’s friendly fixtures include matches against Larkhall Athletic, Cardiff City U21s, Plymouth Argyle, Melksham Town, and Farnborough. The season opener is scheduled for Saturday, August 8.
Additionally, Bath City is calling on fans and community members to participate in the annual Paint the Park event this weekend. Volunteers are invited to help refresh the stadium by painting, making minor repairs, cleaning, and sprucing up the grounds. The event runs from 10 am to 3 pm on both Saturday and Sunday, with refreshments provided for all helpers.
