Bath City Suffers Heavy Defeat as Weston-super-Mare Settles for Draw

Bath City endured a harsh 4-0 loss at home to Hampton & Richmond Borough in their National League South clash at Twerton Park.

The match began with promise, highlighted by new loan signing Luke Skinner, whose early cross forced a close miss from Jordan Tillson. Despite this bright start, Hampton & Richmond broke the deadlock in the 19th minute when Max Kretzschmar headed in Ronan Silva’s deflected cross-shot.

Bath City responded with fervor. Jaiden Putman narrowly missed an equalizer, and Skinner’s efforts were thwarted twice by Marcus Dewhurst in goal for the visitors. The first half ended with Hampton’s goalkeeper Charlie Binns making a key save from Sam Deadfield.

After a brief stoppage in the second half due to a medical incident in the crowd, Bath had a golden chance to level. Donovan Wilson set Moses Alexander-Walker free, who opted to pass to Skinner. However, Skinner’s attempt to cut back on his left foot allowed Hampton to clear the ball. This missed opportunity proved costly. Within a minute, Hampton doubled their lead as Silva struck a stunning curling shot from the edge of the box following a rebound saved by Binns.

Chasing the game, Bath pressed forward but Hampton appeared more threatening. Binns made a crucial save from Nana Boateng’s deflected effort. The visitors sealed their victory late on with goals from Craig Fasanmade and, in stoppage time, Reece Grego-Cox.

Meanwhile, Weston-super-Mare had to settle for a 1-1 draw at Dover. Jacob Mensah gave Dover an early lead with a header from a long throw. Weston quickly responded when Will Dawes was fouled, and Luke Coulson calmly converted the resulting penalty. Both sides had chances in the second half—Dawes and Luke Spokes for Weston, Ruben Soares-Junior for Dover—but neither could find a winning goal.
