Bath City, already relegated, produced a stunning performance to defeat second-placed Dorking Wanderers and claim their first away victory of 2026. The win, courtesy of goals from Matt Bowman, Alex Fisher, and Donovan Wilson, ended a 13-game stretch without an away win.
The defeat for Dorking, who entered the match second in the league, effectively dashed their title hopes as they failed to capitalize on Worthing’s loss earlier that day. Brennan Camp’s 10th goal of the season briefly gave Dorking hope after his composed header, but it wasn’t enough to overcome an inspired City side.
Bath’s goalkeeper Charlie Binns was a key figure throughout the match, stepping in late due to Harvey Wiles-Richards’ withdrawal and delivering a series of crucial saves. Early pressure from Dorking’s Charlie Carter was met by Binns’ sharp reflexes, setting the tone for City’s resilient defense.

The deadlock was broken in the 20th minute when Josh Laqeretabua played a clever one-two with Bowman before setting him up to delicately chip the ball over an advancing goalkeeper. Despite some strong attacking moves from Dorking, including efforts from Harry Pinchard and Sam Pearson, City held firm.
As news came through that Worthing was ahead at Maidstone, Dorking rallied, pressing hard against City’s defense. However, Binns continued to thwart their attempts, producing arguably his best save on 58 minutes to deny a dangerous rebound.
Dorking equalized soon after through Camp’s expertly flicked header from a Pinchard corner. The hosts sensed an opportunity to seize top spot on goal difference, but Bath City struck back in the 77th minute.
A misplay by George Francomb allowed Scott Wilson to intercept and assist Alex Fisher, who calmly finished from twelve yards for his second goal in two games. Despite a contentious penalty shout against Fisher shortly after, City maintained control.
The Romans extended their lead in the 84th minute when Donovan Wilson capitalized on a loose ball to hammer a right-footed shot that kissed the post and found the net. Binns continued to deny Dorking’s final attempts, preserving the crucial victory.
Although Bath City’s relegation was confirmed prior to this match, their spirited performance and third win in five games provide a bright spot for their traveling supporters and a positive note to end an otherwise challenging season.
