Bath City has bolstered its lineup with the signings of Ollie Chamberlain from Weston-super-Mare and Donovan Wilson on a permanent deal, head coach Scott Bartlett confirmed on Sunday.
Chamberlain, 31, who had been on trial during pre-season matches against Cardiff U21 and Plymouth Argyle, brings valuable versatility and experience to the squad. Having previously played under Bartlett at Weston for over a year, Chamberlain was eager to reunite. “Once I heard he was interested, I was delighted to come back. We stayed in touch—even when I was injured last year, he sent me good luck messages, which was really encouraging,” Chamberlain said.
Primarily a central midfielder, Chamberlain adapted to the wing-back position during Taunton’s successful push to the National League South, contributing several goals. “I’m versatile and willing to fill in wherever needed. Bartlett knows my strengths, and I believe we’ll be a good fit,” he added.

Chamberlain is returning after a challenging recovery from a ruptured Achilles tendon suffered in March 2025 during a match against Chelmsford. His appearances last season were limited to substitutes’ roles in playoff games at Hemel Hempstead Town and Hornchurch, where Weston narrowly missed promotion. “Pre-season has gone well so far. It was good to get some minutes at the tail end of last season. The recovery was a long process, but I feel strong now,” he explained. Chamberlain praised Weston for their support during his rehabilitation and expressed confidence in his readiness for the upcoming campaign.
Chamberlain’s resume includes a Southern Premier South title with Taunton in 2022. “I know the league demands well and believe I’ll be a big asset here. The fans and stadium atmosphere are top-notch. Right now, it’s about peaking at the right time, building match fitness, and staying injury-free,” he concluded.
In addition to Chamberlain, Bath City has secured Donovan Wilson, 29, on a permanent transfer following his loan spell from Dagenham & Redbridge earlier this year. Signed initially by former coach Darren Way in February, Wilson impressed with three goals in his last four games despite the club’s relegation. He also featured prominently in pre-season, scoring in a 3-1 victory at Larkhall.
Bartlett, who started working with Wilson at the end of last season, praised his influence on the team. “He’s brilliant. Sometimes everything aligns perfectly, and this was one of those times. Donny and I built a good rapport quickly, and the fans took to him immediately. He’s an outstanding player, and I’m confident we’ll get a lot out of him this season.”
With these additions, Bath City aims to strengthen its competitiveness and fan support as the new season approaches.
