Bath City Sack Manager Darren Way After 11-Game Winless Streak

Bath City has parted ways with manager Darren Way after an 11-game winless streak has plunged the Romans deep into the relegation zone of the National League South. The latest setback came with a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Tonbridge Angels, compounding the club’s urgent struggle to secure its league status.

With only nine matches remaining this season, Bath City currently finds itself seven points adrift of safety. However, the Romans maintain an advantage by holding two games in hand over 20th-placed Farnborough, keeping faint hopes of survival alive.

The club announced the managerial change on Sunday, with a statement from the board expressing regret over recent results. “The Board of Bath City Football Club have today announced that men’s team Manager Darren Way has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect. The decision was reached after recent disappointing performances which have left the club in a relegation battle,” the statement read.

David McDonagh, Chair of the BCFC Board, commented, “The Board believe that we need to make a change to give us the best chance of survival in the league this season. We thank Darren for all his hard work during his tenure and wish him all the best for the future.”

Looking ahead, Bath City is optimistic about the squad’s potential. McDonagh added, “We believe that we have a squad capable of fighting to stay up and are all focusing on Tuesday’s game now. We know that our fans are with the players and the club for the nine games left.”

Tuesday evening’s crucial match against Hemel Hempstead will be overseen by James Moon, Bath City’s Academy Manager, assisted by a group of senior players as the club seeks a fresh start under interim leadership.
