Bath City Football Club has made the difficult decision to part ways with manager Darren Way after the team endured an 11-game winless streak that has left the Romans languishing in the National League South relegation zone.
The latest setback came on Saturday with a 2-1 loss to Tonbridge Angels, intensifying the club’s battle to avoid relegation with just nine games remaining in the season. Currently, Bath City sits seven points adrift of safety but holds the advantage of two games in hand over 20th-placed Farnborough.
On Sunday, the club officially announced Way’s departure. A statement issued by Bath City read: “The Board of Bath City Football Club has announced that men’s team Manager Darren Way has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect. This decision follows recent disappointing performances that have plunged the club into a relegation fight.”

David McDonagh, Chair of the BCFC Board, commented: “We believe a change is necessary to maximize our chances of survival this season. We thank Darren for his dedication and contributions during his tenure and wish him every success moving forward.”
Looking ahead, McDonagh expressed confidence in the existing squad, stating, “We have a team capable of fighting to stay up. Our focus is now entirely on the upcoming match against Hemel Hempstead. We believe our fans will continue to rally behind the players and club during this critical period.”
Tuesday’s match will see James Moon, Bath City Academy Manager, take temporary charge, supported by a core group of senior players.
