Bath City Held to Draw by Enfield Town

Bath City’s striker Owen Windsor continued his impressive run, scoring his third goal in as many home games to give his side the lead shortly after halftime. However, a resolute Enfield Town fought back, with Billy Leonard leveling the match to earn a well-deserved point.

The 1-1 draw marked Bath City’s fourth consecutive home stalemate across all competitions—their longest streak since early 1998. This result slightly improved Darren Way’s squad position, moving them up one place and maintaining a four-point cushion above the relegation zone.

The Romans faced a setback with the injury absence of Will Jenkins Davies, ending his unbroken league appearance streak. Despite this, Bath made an energetic start, with Windsor nearly scoring in the opening minute following a nod-on from Mitch Beardmore.

Enfield Town soon threatened, with Sam Youngs volleying a corner that struck the post and Xavier Benjamin testing the home defense with a long-range effort. The first half ended scrappy, highlighted by Youngs’ wayward finish from a lay-off.

Bath City came out reinvigorated after the break, with Joe Raynes’ powerful shot forcing a fingertip save from Town goalkeeper Barrett, grazing the crossbar. The breakthrough came on the 53rd minute when Matt Bowman’s drive created space for Luke Russe, who set up Windsor to lash a precise shot into the top left corner, aided slightly by a deflection.

City pushed for a second, with Kieran Parselle volleying just wide and Beardmore testing Barrett again with a sharp effort. However, Enfield mounted a swift response. On 65 minutes, Cian Dillon’s skillful play on the byline allowed Billy Leonard to calmly side-foot the equalizer past the goalkeeper.

Enfield nearly took the lead moments later, but Windsor’s counterpart, Lamar Reynolds, was denied by a sprawling save from Binns, who was visibly shaken by the strike. Substitute Jordan Alves also tested Barrett but was unable to find the target.

Town’s fresh substitute Olly Davis injected renewed energy, forcing saves and coming close with a left-footed shot near the end. Bath City, short on bench options and pushing Raynes forward late in the game alongside Windsor, were unable to break down the visiting defense. Enfield earned seven points from their last three games, whereas City were left frustrated by their home form, with just two league wins in ten at Twerton Park this season.

Reflecting on the match, manager Darren Way said, “We feel like it’s points dropped. We weren’t happy with the goal we conceded. We were carrying the momentum but allowed them an easy chance. After going 1-0 up, we needed more quality in the final third to capitalize.”

Way acknowledged the impact of Jenkins Davies’ injury, revealing it might be a medial ligament issue. “We missed his flair and attacking spark. It’s important to find another player to fill that gap while he’s sidelined. I’m pleased with the recent additions but we still need more depth.”

Looking ahead, Joe Raynes will miss the next fixture against Maidstone United due to suspension, but no further disciplinary concerns loom for the squad.
