Scott Bartlett commended his Bath City team for their strong commitment as they brought an end to Taunton Town’s 16-game unbeaten run on home turf.
The victory marked Bath City’s first away win since their opening match of the season against Sholing, with goals from Scott Wilson, Harry Parsons, and Donovan Wilson securing a 3-1 triumph.
“Were we excellent tonight? Not throughout, not exactly as we would want or expect going forward, but committed, absolutely,” stated Bartlett.

“I’m very pleased with the performance, especially considering we’ve overcome two challenging opponents recently.
“Given their style of play, it’s no surprise they have accumulated solid points lately, particularly at home where they had been unbeaten in 16 games.
“We faced some adversity, conceding a poor goal from our perspective, but the team kept pressing and responded admirably. I’m proud of the group.”
The Romans took an early lead with a clinical finish from Scott Wilson inside five minutes, capitalising on Pedro Elawar’s cross-shot. Shortly afterwards, Harry Parsons doubled the lead when Taunton failed to clear Ollie Chamberlain’s cross, allowing Parsons to score from close range.
Despite a spirited long-range attempt from Alfie Moulden, Bath City’s goalkeeper Harvey Wiles-Richards, making his 100th appearance for the club, made crucial saves to keep their advantage.
Taunton Town maintained an aggressive, direct style of play, creating threats throughout the match. However, Bath City missed opportunities to extend their lead before half-time, with Donovan Wilson unable to connect with a low cross and Parsons missing from twelve yards.
Taunton reduced the deficit in the 58th minute, with Harrison Minturn’s long ball enabling Ben Seymour to provide a cross for Scott Robinson to score.
Bartlett observed, “Taunton play with intensity, using a long-ball approach with quality. Their experienced centre-halves and goalkeeper give them solidity and possession advantages.”
“We had to stand up to their pressure. At times we did so brilliantly, and at others, less so. But overall, we counter-attacked effectively, especially in the second half.”
One such counter-attack culminated in the third goal when substitute Enzio Boldewijn assisted Donovan Wilson, who scored with a precise low shot off the post.
Both teams had further chances, but Bath City held firm to end Taunton’s formidable home unbeaten sequence that dated back to November 2025.
Bartlett added, “Our players showed great stamina and the substitutes made a significant impact. After a ten-day break, including some involvement in the Somerset Premier Cup, the squad brought fresh legs and strong competition for places, elevating our performance.
“This team is built for this division, and the competition within the squad pushes everyone to perform better.”
Looking ahead, Bath City will face Southern League Premier South leaders Plymouth Parkway in the FA Trophy this Saturday.
“We have another tough challenge ahead and are looking forward to it,” Bartlett concluded.
