A significant overhaul of bus services across Bath and North Somerset is set to take effect from Sunday, 30 August. These changes will see the introduction of new routes, extensions to popular services, and the withdrawal of certain less-used lines, impacting dozens of journeys throughout the region.
Among the most notable changes is the complete removal of the 175 bus service connecting Bath and Peasedown St John due to low passenger numbers. Travellers between these two locations are encouraged to use alternative routes, including the 171, 172, 173, 174, or 522 services.
Similarly, the 125 and 125S services running between Weston-super-Mare and Wrington will be discontinued. Passengers can continue to travel between these points via the 126, U2, and X10 services.

On a positive note, the X10 service, affectionately known as ‘The Big Lemon’ for its distinctive bright yellow livery, has been extended. Traditionally running between Yatton and Southmead Hospital, with stops including Cribbs Causeway, the expanded route will now encompass additional stops at Congresbury, Langford, Wrington, and Walton Park in Clevedon.
North Somerset Councillor Hugh Malyan emphasised the importance of robust public transport, stating, “Good public transport helps people get to work, college, appointments and leisure activities without relying on the car.” He added that the extension of the X10 and the introduction of new evening journeys would provide residents with greater travel options and strengthen connections within North Somerset communities.
The X10’s new evening services will be trialled for one year, allowing passengers more flexibility later in the day. Alongside these changes, various other services in Somerset will experience route or timetable adjustments.
In addition, a brand-new route, the U6, has been launched to operate weekdays during university term time. This service will run between the University of Bath and London Road, Bath, with its timetable specifically tailored around university lecture times.
