Charlie Luck, a barman and sound engineer at The Riff Corner in Clevedon, got an unexpected surprise when The Snake Boys, a local band, featured his face prominently on their latest bootleg CD.
The recording was made during a live gig at The Riff Corner last October, serving as a rehearsal for the band’s upcoming official album. The CD includes covers of songs by legends like Bill Withers and Jimi Hendrix, alongside original tracks.
Jonah Hitchens, the 28-year-old frontman of The Snake Boys, explained the choice to use Charlie’s image as a heartfelt thank you. “We didn’t ask Charlie beforehand—it was meant to be a surprise. We call him ‘Chuck’ because he’s always supportive, greeting us, ensuring sound checks run smoothly, and even bringing us beers. He’s a real hero to us musicians.”

Charlie, 22, has been an integral part of The Riff Corner since it opened in late 2022, not only tending bar but also managing sound engineering and impressing patrons with his cocktail skills.
Receiving the CD was a memorable moment for Charlie. “When Jonah handed me the CD and I saw my face on it, I was completely shocked. It’s a real honor to be part of this project.”
Only 50 copies of this limited-edition bootleg CD have been produced, many already sold at The Riff Corner for £10 each. Jonah hopes it might even become a collectors’ item.
Owned by musician Steve Treble and Bristol Fringe owner Sylvie Dagallier, The Riff Corner has swiftly become a vibrant hub for live music and arts, hosting a range of events from comedy and dance lessons to poetry nights and quizzes.
