Baby Swan Rescued from Reservoir in Dramatic Rescue

In a dramatic rescue reminiscent of a scene from Hot Fuzz, firefighters sprang into action to save a baby swan trapped in a reservoir in Somerset.

Crews from Chew Magna and Bedminster were called to assist a cygnet stuck in the overflow catchment of a local reservoir near the village of Chew Magna.

The rescue involved careful coordination and the expertise of water rescue specialists. Photos shared by Avon Fire and Rescue Service show the youngster swan wrapped securely in a blue bag as it was safely brought out of the water.

Avon Fire and Rescue posted the heartwarming rescue on Facebook, commenting, “Any luck catching them swans then? A real life Hot Fuzz moment as crews from Chew Magna and Bedminster responded to a cygnet stuck in the overflow catchment of a reservoir near Chew Magna. With some careful teamwork, our water rescue crews brought it safely to shore.”

Thanks to the swift and careful work of the firefighters, the baby swan was rescued unharmed and returned to safety.
