Baby in Critical Condition After Pregnant Woman Struck by E-Bike

A pregnant woman was seriously injured and hospitalised last week after being struck by an electric bike in Dorset. The collision occurred on Monday, January 26, at approximately 3:50 pm in Poole, near the junction of Herbert Avenue and Manor Avenue.

The woman, in her 30s, was rushed to hospital, where she has since given birth. Unfortunately, her newborn baby remains in critical condition. Dorset Police report that the e-bike rider fled the scene immediately after the incident.

Following a police investigation, a 13-year-old boy from Poole was arrested on suspicion of a driving offence related to the collision. He is currently in police custody as inquiries continue.

Police Sergeant Dan Yates of the Dorset Roads Policing Team expressed gratitude to members of the public who provided information and urged anyone with further details to come forward. “Our investigation is ongoing, and the arrest marks an important step forward. We encourage anyone who has not yet spoken with police about this incident to get in touch,” he said.
