Baby Dies Following Admission to Salisbury Hospital with Serious Injuries; Man Charged with Murder

A 26-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a four-week-old baby who died after being admitted to Salisbury District Hospital with serious injuries. Jamie Fulford, from Tournament Road, appeared at Salisbury Magistrates Court on Friday, May 8, facing charges of murder and causing or allowing the death or harm of a child.

The infant was admitted to the hospital on September 1, 2022, but despite medical efforts, he sadly passed away eight days later, on September 9.

Fulford has been remanded in custody and is set to appear next at Winchester Crown Court on May 12.

The baby’s mother, 22-year-old Sophie Egerton, also from Tournament Road, has been charged with causing or allowing the death or harm of a child. She appeared in court the same day and has been granted unconditional bail. Egerton is scheduled to appear at Winchester Crown Court on June 5.
