After 17 wonderful years of welcoming families and animal lovers, Axe Valley Wildlife Park in Axminster, Devon, has announced it will close its doors on Friday, October 10, 2025. The heartfelt announcement came via an emotional post on the park’s official Facebook page, revealing that ongoing financial difficulties have made continued operation impossible.
The zoo’s statement expressed their deep sadness: “It is with a heavy heart that we share some sad news. Our much-loved Family Zoo will be closing on Friday, 10th October 2025. Like many businesses today, we have found it financially unviable to keep going."
Reflecting on their journey, the park shared gratitude for the countless memories made since opening over a decade and a half ago. They recalled the thousands of visitors, numerous school trips, and dedicated members who formed the zoo family. “We are incredibly proud of the diverse animals we have cared for, each holding a special place in our hearts—just as many of you have your favourites,” the statement read.

Reassuring supporters, the wildlife park emphasized that all animals will be rehomed safely and in strict accordance with animal welfare regulations. Membership holders are being offered refunds for any remaining subscription time, with information available on the park’s website.
