Authentic Finnish Sauna Experience Launches in Lulworth Cove

The Saltwater Sauna, a renowned wellness destination, is thrilled to unveil its newest location at the stunning Lulworth Cove on the UNESCO-listed Jurassic Coast starting April 25th, 2025. This expansion adds to their successful sites at Sandbanks and Avon Beach, promising locals and tourists an opportunity to indulge in traditional Nordic wellness practices against the backdrop of the sea.

Founded by Sam and Arlene Glyn-Jones, The Saltwater Sauna blends mental health expertise with authentic Finnish wellness traditions, curating a holistic experience that revolves around body positivity and social interaction. Their unwavering dedication to well-being garnered them the prestigious “Best Design” prize at the UK Sauna Industry Awards this year, with their very own Jane Witt receiving the title of “Sauna Practitioner of the Year”.

The Lulworth Cove Saltwater Sauna will enjoy a prime beachfront setting, featuring wood-fired cabins and essential amenities for a refreshing ocean plunge. A partnership with Petite Hotels elevates the guest experience, offering conveniences like changing rooms, a naturally-sourced shower, and access to delightful dining options at the nearby Lulworth Lodge.

Sam Glyn-Jones, co-founder, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating: “We are thrilled to introduce sauna culture to this globally acclaimed area of natural beauty. We believe this initiative will bring a multitude of benefits, not just to visitors but also to the local community. By attracting responsible tourism, our aim is to bolster businesses year-round, particularly during the quieter winter months when coastal areas tend to slow down.”

Having already established strong ties with local cafes, yoga instructors, and fitness groups at their Sandbanks and Avon sites, The Saltwater Sauna aims to cultivate similar partnerships at Lulworth Cove for the broader community’s welfare.

Additionally, The Saltwater Sauna is dedicated to enhancing mental well-being. Through their affiliated company, Resurface Therapy, they offer complimentary sauna sessions to veterans, mental health organizations such as Dorset Mind, and other local groups.

Arlene Glyn-Jones, another co-founder, conveyed her excitement about the potential of authentic Finnish sauna culture to benefit the community in Lulworth. She explained: “We are eager to bring the advantages of authentic Finnish sauna culture to the locals in Lulworth. Our regular communal sessions ensure that everyone, from families to retirees to young adults, can access the mental and physical health benefits of sauna usage. Ultimately, our vision is to establish a space that enriches the lives of locals and visitors alike.”

The Lulworth Estate has endorsed a project that strives to harmonize with its natural surroundings through sustainable materials and thoughtful design. The objective is to create an eco-conscious haven that fosters well-being, connection, and an appreciation of Dorset’s awe-inspiring coastline.

Scheduled to open on April 25th, 2025, The Saltwater Sauna at Lulworth Cove presents an opportunity for visitors to unwind, bond, and reconnect with nature in one of the UK’s most scenic locations.
