A derelict building in Somerset’s Chard Town was the site of multiple intentionally set fires on March 30. The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service deemed the blazes “suspicious” as they worked to bring the situation under control.
At approximately 3:15pm, firefighters from Axminster, Chard, and Crewkerne were summoned to Furnham Road, where they discovered several active fires inside the structure.
The fire response effort continued until around 8pm, with crews working to contain the situation and ventilate the building. Given the suspicious nature of the fires, law enforcement was also called to the scene to conduct an investigation.
