An arson investigation is ongoing after a fire severely damaged three caravans and a nearby Tesco supermarket in Glastonbury. Emergency services responded to the blaze on Beckery New Road at approximately 8:15 pm over the weekend.
Authorities confirmed that two individuals—a man in his 40s and a woman in her 20s—were arrested on June 13 on suspicion of arson, arson with intent to endanger life, and assaulting an emergency worker. Both suspects have since been released on conditional bail pending further investigation.
The fire completely destroyed two caravans and caused damage to a third, in addition to inflicting extensive harm on the Tesco store. While the store was closed on Saturday due to the damage, it reopened the following day without issue.

Sergeant Simon Lancey of the Glastonbury neighborhood policing team described the incident as suspicious and emphasized the danger posed by deliberately starting the fire. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
