An arson investigation has been launched following a car crash in Shepton Mallet, where a vehicle was driven into a ditch and subsequently set on fire.
The incident occurred around 10:30 am on Tuesday, 18 August, when a silver Hyundai Accent left the A361 East Compton Road and ended up in a ditch. Later that day, between 1 pm and 1:30 pm, two men arrived at the scene in a black SUV-type vehicle. According to reports, they removed items from the car before igniting it and then left the area.
Avon and Somerset Police confirmed the details, stating, “Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage from around 1 pm to come forward.”
