Armed officers were dispatched to the Halcon estate in Taunton early Monday morning following a report of a suspected firearm at a local property. Avon and Somerset Police received the tip-off at 7:15 a.m. on January 12 and immediately deployed firearms officers to the Outer Circle area as a precaution.
Residents in the vicinity witnessed several armed officers patrolling the estate, with photos from the scene capturing the significant police presence. However, after a thorough search, police confirmed that no firearm was found, and the operation was promptly stood down.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police stated: “At 7:15 a.m. on Monday, 12 January, we received information about a potential firearm at a property in Outer Circle, Taunton. Acting out of an abundance of caution, we deployed armed officers. The search quickly revealed no weapon was present, and the deployment was stood down.”
