Aria Thorpe’s Family Honors ‘Beautiful Little Soul’ After Tragic Loss

Aria Thorpe’s family has paid a heartfelt tribute to their “beautiful little soul,” mourning the devastating loss of the nine-year-old girl. Aria passed away in Weston-super-Mare on Monday, December 15, after sustaining a single stab wound.

A 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named due to his age, has been charged with her murder and recently appeared in court.

Aria’s family on her mother’s side, residents of Weston-super-Mare, released a statement on December 19 expressing their grief: “For those who didn’t have the privilege of knowing Aria, she was the most beautiful little soul — happy-go-lucky, full of light, and joy. She loved to sing and dance, taking great pride in dressing up, always wanting to look just like her mummy.

“The loss of Aria has shattered us beyond words. Our hearts are broken in a way we never imagined possible. As a family, we are holding each other close and doing everything we can to support one another through this unimaginable time.

“We are deeply touched by the kind messages from friends and the local community in recent days. It has meant so much to us all.

“We kindly ask for privacy as we come to terms with the terrible loss of our precious girl.”

Aria’s father, Tom Thorpe, shared his sorrow: “It’s hard to put into words how devastating this is, knowing our little Aria is now with the angels watching over us. I will miss hearing ‘Dad, how long left?’ on our long journeys, or you asking me to test you with your ‘numbers’ to entertain you when you grew bored of the iPad.

“I’ll miss making your buttery crackers, grapes, and yoghurt for breakfast. You were a brave, kind-hearted, and beautiful innocent soul. Your quirky ways and joyful spirit always brought smiles to people’s faces.

“I’ll never forget our family trip to Disneyland — seeing your face light up during the princess show is a memory we’ll cherish forever.

“Your family down here in Portsmouth will always miss you, even your pleas to go outside in the pouring rain just to enjoy the little time we had together.

“You’ll be deeply missed, our special little angel. Your life was taken far too soon, but it was a life filled with love and joy. We love you dearly. Goodnight, darling.”

Meanwhile, the 15-year-old charged with Aria’s murder appeared at Bristol Crown Court on Friday, December 19. He was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear again on Monday, March 16.
