Aria Thorpe’s Death Leaves Weston-super-Mare Primary School Devastated

The community of Weston-super-Mare is in mourning following the tragic death of nine-year-old Aria Thorpe. Aria was fatally wounded by a single stab on the evening of Monday, December 15, at Lime Close, prompting a forensic investigation that has continued since.

Aria was a pupil at Becket Primary School, part of the Kaleidoscope Multi-Academy Trust. The school’s leadership expressed deep sorrow. Simon Marriott, chief executive of the trust, said, “Our entire school community is devastated by the loss of Aria. We are working closely with professional agencies to support our pupils, staff, and families as they come to terms with this tragedy. Our hearts go out to Aria’s family in this profoundly difficult time.”

A 15-year-old boy has been charged with Aria’s murder. Due to his age, his identity remains protected by law. He appeared at Bristol Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, December 17, and is scheduled for a Crown Court appearance on Friday, December 19.

We ask everyone to respect their privacy during this time. The entire community feels this profound loss, and we are collaborating with schools and partner agencies to ensure support is available to those affected.”
