The reserved matters application for phase five of the Rowden Park project on Patterdown Road, featuring 134 homes by Bellway Homes, has been given the go-ahead by Wiltshire Council. Despite objections from Chippenham Town Council, the revised plans were eventually approved, marking the next stage of the 1000-home development.
Chippenham Town Council raised concerns about the design being “car-dominated” and lacking in living conditions, while Bellway Homes emphasized the focus on creating safe and distinctive streets and spaces.
The case officer weighed the public benefits, including new housing, affordable homes, and economic inputs, against the identified harm, ultimately justifying the approval by Wiltshire Council on Tuesday, March 18.
