Antisocial Behaviour Prompts Police Dispersal Order in Kingsmead Square, Somerset

Residents of Kingsmead Square in Bath have been facing persistent antisocial behaviour, disrupting daily life and causing concern throughout the neighbourhood. In response, local police have implemented a dispersal order this weekend to curb the disturbances and support community safety.

The dispersal order grants officers the authority to ask individuals who are committing or likely to commit antisocial acts to leave the designated area immediately and prohibits their return for the duration of the order. This measure is intended to prevent further incidents and protect residents from ongoing disruption.

The order is currently active and will remain in effect until 12:30 pm on Sunday, July 13. It encompasses a large section of Kingsmead Square, extending from James Street West to Lower Borough Walls, and covering areas between Monmouth Street and Upper Borough Walls, as well as part of Westgate Street.

In a social media statement, local police confirmed: “Following reports from members of the public of antisocial behaviour, a dispersal order has been put in place for the Kingsmead Square area of Bath until 12:30 pm on Sunday afternoon. Under this order, officers are empowered to require individuals who are committing or are likely to commit antisocial behaviour to leave the designated area.”

Chief Inspector Scott Hill, Area Commander for Bath and North East Somerset (BANES), emphasized the policing team’s commitment to the community: “The local neighbourhood policing team in Bath is working closely with our communities to address ongoing concerns about antisocial behaviour in the Kingsmead Square area. This dispersal notice ensures that residents and visitors can enjoy the area without having to witness or experience disruptive behaviour.”

These proactive measures reflect police dedication to maintaining public order and fostering a safe environment for everyone in Bath’s Kingsmead Square.
